Bellabox March and February Review

Hey Readers,
I hope this weeks post finds you well. This months Bellabox has arrived at my door and it doesn't really feel like a month since the last one arrived but its here and I am excited to share whats inside!!! But before I do a quick review of the February box.

Nyx Baked Blush
This was a real surprise for me this month. When I swatched it on my had while writing my original post it looked really light and quite shimmery which is the reason I felt it would lend itself more to being a highlight than a blush. I also had been forming the opinion of late that light pink blushes just aren't my favourite. However on the cheeks this blush looks completely different. Its not too light or pink but really gives a beautiful flush that I wasn't expecting. I have really enjoyed.

Majic Beauty Eye Majic
I have to be honest that I still haven't tried these every time I look at them I hesitate as I am not quite sure of how it will turn out once applied to the eyes I will eventually make an effort to give these a try in the future.

Bath and Body Works Fragrance Mist
I haven't used this one a huge amount I am not generally a perfume wearer day to day but I have worn this a couple of times and its definitely a decent fragrance that wears well throughout the day and doesn't fade as quickly as a lot of other perfumes.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen
I have put this into my travel pack as hopefully it will come in handy for my upcoming holiday.

Klorane Shampoo and Conditioner
As I said in my original post a decent shampoo and a conditioner that I enjoy has been a good addition to my hair care routine.

OK so now on to the box for March. Bellabox for this month comes with the theme raw beauty and while this box is slightly skin care heavy which isn't usually my favourite,  I have received some interesting products that I cannot wait to tell you about and try.
So lets get to it!!!!

Bronze by La Mav Gradual Tanning Moisturiser received a 10ml deluxe sample full size is 200ml
This gradual tanner provides buildable colour but contains no nasties, no synthetics and doesn't have a fake tan scent. This moisturiser is vegan and will hydrate the skin whilst giving it a beautiful glow. As you are already aware I am not into fake tanning at all so this most likely will go into the give away pile of products I have.

Amie Morning Clear Purifying Facial Wash recieved a 10ml deluxe sample full size is 150ml
This gentle yet effective cream cleanser removes dirt, oil and makeup whilst leaving skin beautifully soft and refreshed. Have not tried this brand of skincare before so interested to see what it is like.

Package Everyday Bouncy Sheet Mask received one mask
This Korean beauty sheet mask offers hydration and is infused with a variety of moisturising properties to help keep skin smooth and bouncy. Again sheet masks not really my thing but the packaging for this one is so cute I want to keep it just for that!!!

Woohoo All Natural Deodorant Paste received a travel sample (no g/ml on tub) full size is 70g
This is an all natural, toxin free alternative to antiperspirant. Probably the most quirky product I have ever received in a beauty box. While I am not sure about rubbing this paste on with my fingers every morning is my thing. I have recently been using another all natural deodorant which I have been enjoying so interested to see if this is as good.

The Australian Natural Soap Company Activated Charcoal Soap received a deluxe sample (no weight on packaging) full size is 100g.
This natural soap bar is based on charcoal that has high absorptive powers drawing out the bad stuff. This can be used on the face and body. While I already know that I don't enjoy the scent of most charcoal based skincare products I am really interested to try. I know they are good at drawing out impurities and I do find they help with balancing my oiling T zone!!!

Eye of Horus Cosmetics Bio Lash Lift Mascara received on in the shade Black
Amplify your eyes with dramatic, lengthened lashes. This 90% naturally based mascara gives length, volume and nourishment your lashes. I love when a mascara that I haven't used before is included in a box. Really cannot wait to try this one and see how it performs.

So that ends my Bellabox for March. An interesting box for this month, cannot wait to start trying these products out to be able to give my review next month. So unitl then Happy reading and Happy shopping!!

Shop my Stash: Stays and Gos #1

Hey Readers,
I hope this post finds you well. Today I am here with something slightly different post this week but one I am hoping that you will all enjoy. For the last couple of weeks I like many others have been on the declutter my makeup band wagon. While I have done many times before this time I found many products were easy to put in my goodbye pile and then there where some products that I just did not know about. I wasn't sure why I was keeping them but at the same time had no reason to say goodbye to them either. So I put them into my makeup rotation and to keep me motivated to change things up and try them again posted both a photo of the products, then how I used them in face of the days on instagram (@makeupscience). To see once and for all, what they where like once again, why I don't pick them up as much as I could/should and finally answer the question of stay or go???
So without much more chat here are the results....

Stay!!
Loreal Revitalift Magic Blur
I have used this on and off for so long some days I love it and feel it blurs every imperfection I've got going other days it feels like I never put it on!! The reason its staying though is that I do feel it helps to keep my makeup last longer and thats the primary reason I still keep picking it up again.

Maybelline NY Bricks Bronzer 01 Blondes
Now this is the newest member to my collection and it didn't wow me enough initially to stay in my rotation and not end up back in a storage draw. The bronzer is quite light and just doesn't give the finish that I prefer but on a day that I just want to use something without much effort on my part its perfect. The reason its truly staying and it surprises me to say this is the highlight!! This soft peachy pink highlight give the perfect amount of glow to the cheeks its blendable,  buildable and despite the fact I don't regularly put highlight on for work this week its been on my cheeks most days!!

Australis Face-a-holic Touch and Glow
This is a purchase from way back and probably should have been used up a long time ago. Now early in the week I worked out the reason this has been in my draw for a long time. The highlight I just don't use its too frosty for my preference and too light for my complexion and the blush is bright pink and not really my perfect colour but the reason I hold onto it is the use I get out of the middle section which is Australis' pressed powder in deep natural its a great setting powder for everyday I love that it blends beautifully, gives coverage and doesn't cake!!

Happy Booster Glow and Mood Boosting Powder in Translucent
This powder has seen better days after it was dropped and repressed into the pan but it still gives the beautiful finish it always did and I still love it as an all over powder to give a soft glow to the face.

Go!!
Rimmel Good to Glow 003 Soho Glow
This just wasn't the product I was looking for I really thought it would be as good as the insta flawless but I don't really feel like it does much. Whether I have used it under foundation, mixed with foundation or on its own I just don't get the glow from within I have been wanting.

Crop Natural Mineral Pressed Bronzer in Solaire
I generally good bronzer but the colour is just to light and doesn't give me the warmth to my skin that I want even when concentrating my brush into the darker shades. It also has a small amount of shimmer particle when I originally thought it to be matte.

Models Prefer Multitoned Bronzer in Charmed
To me this is more of a blush than a bronzer and while it does give a decent flush to the cheeks. Is buildable and blends out well. I just don't reach for it.

Essence Bloom me up eyeshadow 02 rose it up
Not even sure why I bought this as I have never actually applied it to my lids its a frosty pink shadow that while its lovely I just don't use this type of shade at all.

Australis Neon Crush Blush in Love Ya Like A Sister
This double sided blush really is the perfect combination for someone like myself as usually I prefer a peachy pink in the warmer months and a berry toned matte in cooler months and don't get me wrong the blushes are pigmented and blendable but I just barley reach for this an so its time to go.

Nyx Dream Catcher Palette in Golden Horizons
This has been a palette I have been on the fence about for so long. While the colours are the general neutral colours that I reach for the shadows themselves just are a bit hit an miss when it comes to pigmentation and blendability. I also  find that more often than not I am only using 4 shadows out of the 10 when I do pick it up its just not a palette I love and I don't think I will miss it if it was gone.

So that ends the Shop my stash stays and gos. I hope you enjoyed reading this and if your looking to declutter or shop your own stash I hope this gives you a bit of inspiration to find what work and what doesn't and to find the ultimate favourites in your stash!! So until next post Happy reading and happy shopping.

Empties Hits and Misses #5

Hey Readers,
I hope this post finds you well. Today I am here with my first empties post for the year and given my last post was December last year I am surprised by the number of products I have to talk about!! I will admit at this point though that not all of these are completely empty. In the last couple of weeks I have been trying to sort through my all of my skin care products, makeup and beauty items in and endevour to try to use up products that I don't really love so therefore don't reach for. As well as get rid of products that I don't use or items that have just been disappointing that I am never going to use them up!!  So without to much further ramble lets get to it!!!

Hits!!
Johnson's Body Care Relaxing Shower Gel 1L
These body washes from Johnson and Johnson are really great and I have repurchased them (in different scents) many times over. These are just a great body washes all round. Not only does the size mean they last a decent amount of time but the pump makes this just so easy to use. Cleans well foams well and smells great. I also find the formula is quite gentle on the skin.

OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo 385ml
Despite still not liking Coconut scented products I am still loving this shampoo and I think this is my third repurchase. I just love the way that this makes my hair feel post wash, it foams and cleans so well, leaving my hair soft and silky but not unmanageable despite trying other scents in the range I still always turn back to this one.

Essano Argan Oil Of Morocco Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner 50ml
This was a sample that I received in a beauty box and one that I have really enjoyed. This became my travel shampoo and conditioner its just a great all round shampoo and conditoner that like my favourite from OGX cleans well and doesn't leave my hair too soft and unmanageable I have really enjoyed this one and will most likely repurchase.

Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser 200ml

I purchased this after watching a youtube video that raved about how good it was to both cleanse the skin as well as making sure any left over makeup residue is washed away. I had previously tried another version of cleanser from neutrogena which I was happy but from the first use of this cleanser I was impressed. Not only is it soft on the skin, its light foam cleanses the skin and leaves it feeling clean and fresh since starting to use this I also seem to have less skin breakouts and oil issues which I feel is attributed to makeup residue being fully removed.

Milk Beauty Wipes 25pkI am still loving these wipes they never fail me when it comes to getting rid of a decent days makeup they are so amazing getting off everything from an all day foundation, mascara and gel eyeliner!!

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous 210 Medium Beige 30ml
I do not know how many times I have repurchased this but I still cannot live without it so easy to apply, blend and wear all day. Great for everyday or even a night out I just love how flawless it makes my skin look and it withstands my oily combo skin!!

Ecotool Makeup and Brush Shampoo 177ml
I found this shopping on iHerb while I  was buying brushes and thought well if I'm buying brushes I should buy cleaner!! While its a little different to my usual Daiso brush cleaner I am still impressed. It cleans brushes quickly, foams well gets out all makeup and washes away thoroughly with water so easily. I also enjoy that it has a really soft scent. I have already repurchased.

Bright Toothpaste 45ml
This toothpaste from Essential Apothecary Alchemist was introduced to me via a Maslow and Co beauty box and both myself and my husband really enjoyed it. Its 100% natural so it did take a little bit to get used too but its easy to use and cleans well. This also I have already repurchased.

Misses!!

You Soft Square Cotton Pads 100pk
I believe these are either a Aldi brand or Target brand (I really cannot remember). But these are just a nightmare. Wet or dry you they always leave fibers behind and particuarly when  they are wet they will disintergrate as you can see I haven't even finished the pack they just annoyed me too much.

Olay Total Effects Touch of Foundation BB Creme 50g
This was an impulse buy during one of Pricelines 40% off skincare sales. At the time I was looking for something to be become my weekend makeup. Something that would give me a small amount of coverage but also a product I could just apply without having to reach for a brush or something that would be a great pre foundation moisturier. Sadly I expected too much from this product. The coverage is next to nothing  and even layered it is light coverage at best. While it hydrates it doesn't really like my combo skin and this is more evident when worn under foundation than anything else. I won't repurchase this one.

Bloom Foundation Stick in the shade Base Three 9g
If you read my project pan from last year you will know that I have had a long standing relationship with this one and while I used to love it for touch ups its never ending and I am just passed it now. I don't love it as a foundation so I wouldn't repurchase it.

Australis Matte Out Mattifying Face Base
This worked once and I couldn't ever make it work again. Every time I use it it never seems to work out. More often then not it seems to react with my makeup causing it to separate and post use I find I am oilier than ever anywhere it was applied.

So that ends this empties post. I hope you enjoyed reading this one as much as I have enjoyed writing it!! I love both reading and watching these types of post so if you have done an empties yourself please leave me a comment below or on my Instagram (@makeupscience) and I will check it out. Until next time happy reading and happy shopping!!

Bellabox February and January Review

Hey Readers,
I hope this post finds you well. This months Bellabox has arrived at my door and I was very happy to see it. I was also very happy to see what was inside. But first the box that was....

BB Summer Shimmer Trio

To be honest this was a true surprise from the box in January as secretly I didn't have high hopes for the product being I guess "home brand" its not often something beauty box companies get right. But this is a decent highlight its creamy, easy to blend and lasts a decent amount of time. Its also subtle which I am liking in a highlighter at the moment.

Cetaphil Suntivity SPF 50

I have really enjoying this one this month it not only makes for a really great base to makeup but its also easy to apply when spending a day in the sun. It spreads easily, dries well and under makeup it doesn't effect my foundation at all.

Palmolive Oil Infusions Body Moisturiser

I have been trying so hard to finish my current moisturiser that I haven't used this one at all this month the scent is lovely though so I cannot wait to try.

Klorane Shampoo with Chamomile

After thinking about this a little more I realised that I have actually tried this before but nonetheless this little bottle did the job and left my hair feeling clean, fluffy and fresh.

John Frieda 7 day Volume In Shower Treatment
I really enjoyed this sample this month. Its the first volumising product that I have actually thought from the first try wow this is really working!! While I don't feel it lasts 7 days my hair definitely felt and looked more volumised.

Ok so onto this months box. February Bellabox comes with the theme beauty inside and out and has been filled with some great goodies.

NYX Baked Blush recieved one in the shade Journey

This baked blush direct from cult brand NYX offers a buildable blush that offers a sheer but luminous finish. The shade Journey is a light dusty pink that has quite a fine gold shimmer running through. Given my medium complexion this looks like it will be more of a highlight than a blush for me but I am really happy to see it included and cannot wait to give it a go.

Majic Beauty Eye Majic shade 21 received a full size pack of two

These are instant eye shadow looks in an easy to use applicator. I am interested to try these and see how easy it is to get a quick shadow look. Shade 21 is a mix of purples and gold which are right up my alley.

Bath & Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom Mini Mist received a full size 236ml

This body mist has a sweet yet refreshing fragrance a mix of cherry, pear, apple and plum this fragrance can be spritzed all over for instant all day fragrance. While this is slightly sweeter than what I would usually choose but I have been interested to try something from bath and body works so happy to give this a try.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen Lotion SPF50 received a 14ml deluxe sample full size is 85ml

This sunscreen is light weight, non greasy and is four hours water resistant. Now I don't need a month of trail to be able to tell you that this sunscreen is really really good and one I have enjoyed in the past. Its also great under makeup.

Klorane Shampoo with Quinne and B Vitamins received a 25ml deluxe sample full size is 200ml

Restore volume and thickness this shampoo is designed to strengthen keratin and maintain healthy hair growth. Now given we received the version with chamomile last month and the fact that I have received and used this before. I am more happy to see this come paired with a sample of the pomegranate conditioner (one of the bonus products in the box this month) than I am this shampoo. Its not a bad shampoo but honestly its been done before and  I'd like to try something else.

So that ends BB for February. I am generally happy with what has been included cannot wait to try and give you my thoughts next month. Until then happy reading and happy shopping
